Big Ideas Awards Celebration

The Awards Celebration brings together the entire Big Ideas community to mark the conclusion of the 2016-2017 contest. An annual highlight, this event will feature posters and demos of award winning projects and will provide plenty of time for judges, mentors, sponsors and teams to network, engage and learn. Grand Prize Pitch Day

Each year select finalist teams are invited to attend the Big Ideas Grand Prize Pitch Day, where teams present their project ideas to a panel of esteemed judges. Pitch Day winners will receive an additional award, up to $5,000 for first place. It continues to be one of the most fast-paced and exciting events in the Big Ideas Contest! IT for Society Poster Session

Teams competing in the final round of the Big Ideas “Information Technology for Society” category will participate in a poster session and hold a Q&A session with judges and other attendees. The presentations will count towards teams’ final round scores and the winner will receive up to $10K for their Big Idea.

Big Ideas Workshop: Making Sense of Sensors

Facilitator: David Jacobowitz, Technical Program Manager, LBNL This workshop on sensors and systems design is intended for students interested in applying sensors, computers, and information technology to address social challenges around the world. In particular, this workshop will focus on designing applications and products that interact with the real world: collecting and leveraging physical data. No prior technical skills are required to attend this workshop.
