IndieGoGo.com - Where Independent Happens: Berkeley, CA

Project Leader: Danae Ringelmann

Danae Ringelmann is the co-founder and finance chief of IndieGoGo.com, an online social marketplace connecting filmmakers with their audiences to fund the future of film. Danae co-founded the company to address the fundraising challenges facing independent filmmakers. IndieGoGo.com aims to provide filmmakers a new channel for project funding and validation, while enabling film lovers to connect directly with the filmmakers they passionately support.

Prior to founding IndieGoGo.com, Danae was a securities analyst at Cowen & Co. where she covered entertainment and video game companies including Pixar, Lions Gate, Disney, and Electronic Arts. Danae also focused on cable network, NFL, newspaper and hedge fund clientele while at JPMorgan's Investment Bank and Private Bank. In the wake of 9/11, Danae co-produced a concert reading of Incident at Vichy, an Arthur Miller play addressing the politically charged topic of racial profiling.

Danae is currently an MBA candidate at UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business. She was the Co-Chair of the 2007 Global Social Venture Competition and remains a Film Maven for the Digital Media & Entertainment Club at Haas. Danae recently completed the CFA curriculum and is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she was a Morehead Scholar.
