Berkeley BioBusiness Association - Bioentrepreneurship Roundtable 2007: Upper San Francisco Peninsula

The 2005 Bioentrepreneurship Roundtable (BERT) brought together over 100 industry professionals from a wide variety of biobusiness disciplines (venture capital, lawyers, entrepreneurs, industry professionals, and academics) with over a 100 students from UCSF, UC Berkeley, and Lawrence Berkeley Labs. The event provided a means of networking for not only the students but also for the professionals.

The 2006 BERT will again combine a similar format. Professionals and students will be strategically seated at tables according to their interests. For example, those interested or involved in the medical device industry will sit with professionals from that industry. This sparks conversation and idea generation throughout the evening. The night will consist of an introductory wine mixing event, followed by the keynote speaker, and dinner. It will wrap up with a panel discussion on the complexities of developing technology in a world where disciplines across biobusiness are converging.

Project mission:

The BioEntrepreneurship Forum will allow the top Bay Area entrepreneurs and venture capitalists to leverage the resources at UC Berkeley, UCSF, and Lawrence Berkeley Labs (LBL) by bringing together a wide range of talented students in the engineering, science, IP, and business arenas.

Potential impact:

This event will serve as a catalyst for the creation of new ideas, and partnerships.
