Shuar Health Project - Safe Water & Sanitation: Ecuadorian Amazon

Project Leader: Karis Miyake & Rebecca Kehrer

Karis Miyake is a fourth year undergraduate studying Spanish and interdisciplinary field studies concentrating on public health. Being one of the project founders, she continues to work on the project with the goal of making the Shuar Health Project sustainable for future Cal students to experience.

Rebecca Kehrer is a graduate student in the School of Public Health working on her master's degree in Environmental Health Science, within the Health, Environment and Development program. She has been working on the project since Spring 2006 and is very grateful for the experience. It has taught her much about both the challenges of community work and the great possibilities for success when approached with openness, respect, flexibility and a lot of hard work!
