The Green Bike Share pilot project will establish an initial fleet of 20 bright green bicycles as a means to provide an affordable alternative form of transportation to students, faculty and staff of UC Berkeley. The pilot project, targeted to commence in August, 2008 will be open to the first 100 UC Berkeley students, faculty, and staff to sign up for the program. All members can sign up on the Green Bike Share website (GreenBikeShare.org). It only costs $15 a semester to become a member of the Green Bike Share. This membership will allow you to checkout bikes for up to 24 hours at a time. The Green Bike Share tent will be located on lower Sproul, Monday -Friday between 11am-1pm for pick-up and drop-off. By Spring 2009, we intend to combine our collective research and connections to create a document outlining the different ways UC Berkeley community members can get substantively involved in and contribute to the Green Collar Jobs movement.
