Grand Prize Pitch Day, April 27, 2016, 5:00-8:00pm
Location: B100 Blum Hall, UC Berkeley
After months spent developing their Big Ideas projects, the top student teams will gather in Blum Hall to compete in the fifth annual Big Ideas Grand Prize Pitch Day. Vying for prizes of up to $5,000, these teams will share their visions for social change in front of a panel of esteemed judges. In addition, all guests are invited to choose their favorite Big Idea from this year’s contest in the Big Vote! Big Ideas Awards Celebration, May 4, 2016, 5:00-8:00pm
Location: B100 Blum Hall, UC Berkeley
This event brings together the entire Big Ideas community to mark the conclusion of the 2015-2016 contest, as well as a celebration of 10 years of Big Ideas! This year’s winners are invited to participate in our poster session, where they will display their idea and share it with our Big Ideas network. The event will feature a celebration of current and former Big Ideas winners, presentations from some of our most successful Big Ideas alumni, and opportunities for judges, mentors, sponsors, industry professionals and teams to network, engage and learn. DIL Practitioners in Residence (200G Blum Hall, UC Berkeley)
The Practitioners in Residence program connects student innovators and social entrepreneurs with a wide range of experts from industry, non-profits, government, and social enterprises. Sign-up for 30-minute one-on-one consulting and mentorship conversations with a range of outside entrepreneurs and other practitioners working on projects for social good.

Full Proposal Writing Workshop, Wednesday, February 17, 5:30-7:00pm, B100 Blum Hall
During this workshop Big Ideas advisors will guide final round applicants through the process of drafting their 10-15 page full proposal, provide examples of past proposals and gave basic tips on how to effectively craft a compelling application. This brief overview will be followed by a round-table Q&A session with Big Ideas staff and past judges who will discuss the common pitfalls and best-practices they’ve seen during their (many) years of reviewing Big Ideas.

Impact Design Workshop, March 3, 2016, 5:30-7:30pm (B100 Blum Hall, UC Berkeley)
Big Ideas is excited to co-host the Impact Design Workshop led by Liz Ogbu, a designer, innovator and social entrepreneur who is an expert in the field of impact design. Supported by the Autodesk Foundation, this is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about how to design projects with an emphasis on social impact. Big Ideas Final Round Kickoff, January 24, 5:00pm-6:00pm, (B100 Blum Hall, UC Berkeley):
Big Ideas finalist teams will receive important information about the last stage of the contest, including full proposal rules and criteria. Big Ideas staff will also provide teams with an overview of the Big Ideas Mentorship process and tips for managing the mentor-mentee relationship. Teams are encouraged stay afterward to meet their mentors, get feedback, and/or plan for the semester. Teams can also schedule Skype or phone meetings with their respective mentors if the mentorship is conducted remotely.
Innovators@Cal, Monday, October 19, 6:00pm, Sibley Auditorium, (Networking at Blum Hall B100 to follow): Hear an inspiring speaker tell their story and experiences getting their innovative ideas off the ground, then break away to Blum Hall to either “pitch” your own innovation, or hear others. Networking and team-building to follow.
Mobiles For Reading Challenge Webinar, Wednesday, October 14: In addition to an overview of the Big Ideas Contest and the Mobiles for Reading category, this information session highlights cutting-edge projects and current trends in this emerging field and discusses how these innovations are being used to improve literacy outcomes and ultimately economic and social well-being.
